Happy Dance!

Christmas Cottage by the Nutmeg Company from Issue 193 - November 2007 of The Cross Stitcher (UK)

It's finally finished! I used aida because the pattern called for it and I didn't have any red linen. The aida is stiff and holds the shape of the house nicely but it isn't easy to work with when you try to stitch the little pieces together. Mine looks a little wonky and isn't quite like the one in the magazine but it's not too bad for a first attempt.

My next ornament for the February theme of "hearts" will be a redwork heart. It's traditional redwork embroidery not cross stitch from a free kit I got at one of the Janlynn tent sales.

Wow! That's a gorgeous, impressive ornament! There's enough stitches on it to count for at least two months of sal ornaments. :D
