The city-state of Varuz is about to be attacked by Duke Conrad. Aurelian is preparing to gamble
everything on one last battle and asks for the help of The Doctor. Guena, Aurelian's wife is plotting with his trusted knight Bernhardt to overthrow the Duke. Clara seceretly gets involved with this plot.
This books seeks to answer whether the Doctor will stop stop Aurelian from
going to war. Will Clara's involvement be discovered? Also a group of ancient knights arrive on a quest for the Holy Grail but it is not clear who they are. All of this sounds interesting and exciting but it was not. This book was so dull it did not hold my interest.
