SBQ - January 9, 2008

This week's SBQ is:

What was your favorite finish of 2007?

There were several finishes in 2007 that I really love. If I had to pick a favorite it would be Brotherly Love from Brittercup. I stitched it in memory of two of my kitties, Chessie and Brutus, who I miss very much.

Chessie was a black Burmese mix who was definitely the alpha cat. When she was a kitten she liked to sit on my shoulder while I did housework. She would play fetch with wadded up sheets of paper and was very vocal. She died of old age soon after I moved to Massachusetts but before we bought our house and could bring her out from Arizona. It breaks my heart that I wasn't with her.

Brutus was a big ginger tom who was a big sweetheart. He got along with any other animal you brought into the house. He loved to play with the dogs and would take care of the kittens like a mother cat. He also died of old age and I have his ashes in a beautiful box. He had a good internal clock and knew when you would be returning home from work or school each day and would wait at the door. He would also sit still and let you balance things on his head!

Both of your cats sound like they were wonderful friends to you. The piece you did in their memory is really nice and I like how you finished it.

Thanks for the kind comment about our recent adoption of Owen the greyhound.
